InVerba vs. ChatGPT for
regulated document work

"Why not just use ChatGPT?" is the most common question we hear - and it deserves a straight answer, not a sales pitch. Here is where general AI tools genuinely shine, and where regulated document work needs something different.

Where ChatGPT is genuinely great

Let's be fair to a remarkable tool. General AI assistants are excellent at drafting emails and memos, summarising a document you paste in, brainstorming arguments, translating text, and explaining unfamiliar concepts. If your task is "help me write this", a general assistant is often the right tool - and your team probably already uses one.

Where regulated document work breaks it

The problems start when the question is not "help me write" but "what do our documents actually say?" - across thousands of contracts, policies, claims files, or patient records:

  • No grounding in your archive. A general chatbot doesn't know your documents. Pasting them in one by one doesn't scale past a handful of files - and the moment an answer draws on the model's general knowledge instead of your archive, you can't tell.
  • No citations you can verify. In legal and insurance work, an answer you can't trace to a source passage is unusable - for court, for auditors, for regulators. InVerba links every statement to the document, page, and passage it came from, and says so when it can't.
  • No audit trail. Regulated organisations need to show who asked what, when, and what the system retrieved. Consumer AI tools don't give you an exportable query log; InVerba records one for every single query.
  • Data residency and control. InVerba keeps all customer data in AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt), encrypts it with a per-client KMS key, never trains models on it, and can run entirely inside your own AWS account. With consumer chat tools, your documents leave your control the moment you paste them.
  • Serbian, in both scripts. General models handle Serbian inconsistently, especially Cyrillic and legal terminology. InVerba treats Serbian - Latin and Cyrillic - as a first-class language alongside English.

"General AI chat" refers to consumer and business chat assistants such as ChatGPT, used as-is. Enterprise plans of those tools add controls (e.g. no-training commitments), but not private-archive grounding, per-client key isolation, or regional language guarantees.

"Can't we just use ChatGPT Enterprise?"

An honest answer: enterprise plans of general AI tools solve part of the problem - typically no-training commitments and better admin controls. What they don't give you is the part regulated document work depends on: retrieval across your entire archive with verifiable citations, an audit trail designed for compliance reviews, isolation per client at the encryption-key level, and Serbian-language document understanding. That layer is what InVerba is.

Many of our prospects use both: a general assistant for drafting, InVerba for questions their documents must answer.

The one-line version ChatGPT helps you write. InVerba tells you what your documents say - and proves it with the source.
